Experience Summary
Holding a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, I tutored in a math lab during the summer of my college years and later went into the Peace Corps in Zimbabwe to teach math and science to high school level students. I have also worked as a civil engineer and have directly applied my civil engineering degree in designing grading and utility plans for commercial developments. As a female working in a male dominated field I feel strongly about supporting young girls in pursing their dreams just as equally as young boys. I like being a role model to younger generations and hope that some day there is not such an imbalance in certain areas of study such as the math and sciences.
Teaching Style
Through my different career experiences I have discovered that my heart is in working with children, and I believe that given the proper environment and support every child is capable of learning and growing. Having tutored and received tutoring myself during times in which I was struggling, I believe that having struggled myself, that I understand from a personal perspective what works best in helping a person succeed. I often develop a friendly personal relationship with whom ever I work with and believe a mutual respect is necessary for each person to succeed. I understand the importance of step by step learning, especially with math, that it is necessary and it is essential that none of those steps are missed or skipped over.
