Experience Summary
I am currently a graduate student at Wright State University majoring in English Literature. I am also a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) for the English Department and have developed a deep admiration for working closely with students.
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) for the English Department I have been afforded the opportunity to instruct English 101 and 102 classes. Teaching these courses has given me a great deal of practical experience within the classroom and working with individual students. These experiences have provided the best kind of preparation one might hope for prior to embarking upon a career in this (or any other) field.
Teaching Style
I believe in allowing students the room to direct their own learning. Students who believe that they play an important role in their own education find a deeper level of satisfaction and pride both in their abilities and in their studies. Learning should be fun and exciting and offer students the ability to challenge themselves, explore their world, and see the value of knowledge and academics. Individual instruction is an ideal learning environment and offers the opportunity to tailor a student's program of study to their own unique learning style and interest.
