Experience Summary
I am an international student and since I came to UMD tutoring and mentoring became my favorite occupation. I have been tutoring students in a variety of classes of different categories. My tutoring history starts in my high school. I was good at most of my classes and very often helped my friends when they struggled. When I got to UMD, the same story continued. Then, I got an offer to tutor for the multicultural center and officially became a private tutor. I tutored privately about 15 international students. At the same time I got an offer from the tutoring center, and I accepted it as well. Since I started tutoring I learned how to be patient and gained enormous leadership and communication skills that helps me grow as a tutor.
Teaching Style
As I work with my tutee, at first, I establish a friendly contact that could lead us towards a more effective tutoring session. I am a very friendly and kind person and I would love to work with students of different ages. I hope to create a relaxing environment to make my tutee feel more open and comfortable. I believe my primary responsibility as a tutor is to create independent learners. Tutors should, essentially, work themselves out of their job. I believe in it because once my tutee becomes independent, he or she reaches the top level in studying and understanding; at that point he or she might become a tutor too and help other students who struggle.
