Experience Summary
I have twenty-seven years of experience teaching Chemistry at the undergraduate level and four years experience teaching high school. I taught Chemistry, Physics, and Pre-Calculus at a private school for one year. Currently, I am a tenured public school teacher with a Professional license with three years of experience teaching high school Chemistry and Physical Science. During my years in higher education, I led projects that promoted young scholars at the high school level. I have mentored, taught, and tutored students effectively, promoting the use of meta-cognitive processes to monitor and self-assess progress and understanding.
Teaching Style
My educational phylosophy is to advance student learning in science and mathematics. As a teacher, I create the environmet that promotes student confidence in the student's abilities and instill a sense of competence and a sense of self-worth. I am a constructivist that follows the Tennessee and national standards. All activities construct conceptual and problem-solving skills.
I believe students learn science and mathematics effectively with relevant, hands-on experience. I design learning experiences that take into account the different learning styles and each student's knowledge base.
I model behavior that demonstrates respect for others and create a climate for a free exchange of ideas.
