Experience Summary
As the oldest of five children, my 15+ years of tutoring experience includes helping my siblings in their homework when we were growing up. I have also taught English for two years at a private Junior/Senior girls' high school in Kyoto, Japan; mentored the English Speaking Society for the high school students; and, more recently, trained three content editors at Intel, as well as developed training classes for HP.
Although I did well in math and science during my school years (my mother was a math and science teacher), I consider writing and English grammar my strengths.
Scholastically, I am proud of having been a four-year scholarship recipient and of finishing the technical writing certificate program with a 4.0 GPA.
Teaching Style
Because each student, young or old, responds to different learning stimuli (graphical or verbal) at diffrent rates, I always try to get to know my student first. I then try to tailor my tutoring to how they respond best and retain what they've learned.
I believe in repetition and using examples that a student can relate to, and then testing the student's understanding of the subject matter.
