Experience Summary
As a student at Oklahoma State University, I have been fortunate enough to study a vast and varied curriculum. Although I am not an official graduate of OSU, I essentially have earned all the credentials to hold a B.S. in Economics, and next spring I will graduate with a second B.S. in Mathematics. I have spent the past two years as a tutor at OSU, primarily focusing on Chemistry (General through Organic) as well as Mathematics (all levels up to Calculus, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra). I have also spent several summers as a preschool teacher,and enjoy working with ALL levels of students!
Teaching Style
I truly enjoy working with students. In my experience, many students get discouraged when they become confused with the content of material they are studying. I feel that in many cases, it is just as important to teach students how to learn as it is to teach what to learn; consequently, I advocate a step by step teaching method that allows the student to focus on what they do know, rather than what they do not know. As the student begins to understand each step, they become able to develop the required problem solving skills. I believe that the role of a tutor goes beyond the classroom, which is why I use a laid-back, pragmatic approach that matches my patient and easy going personality.
