Experience Summary
I served as a mentor to a middle school student as a high school student from 1999-2002. I have volunteered for the Cleveland Metroparks since 2006, and enjoy public outreach. I have a strong academic background in biology, a B.A. in Biology summa cum laude and with Departmental Honors and currently working on an M.S. in a biology-related field. I taught every quarter in residence at The Ohio State University while completing my Master’s degree. The courses were undergraduate Biology courses of varying levels for science and non-science majors.
Teaching Style
Teaching science is my greatest passion, as I feel many people have many misconceptions in the field. I am patient, but firm, and acclimate to the climate and the students around me to best facilitate learning. I am always available by email to my students, and will do anything I can to help an eager student. It is important, in the sciences, for students to conduct their own research and to be active learners, as in my experience, this is vital to the retention of information. I enjoy teaching a variety of topics and feel that any student can learn and enjoy any subject when within a positive and encouraging atmosphere. My ultimate goal is to foster a love of science in every student I teach.
