Experience Summary
I have achieved multiple advanced degrees focused on English, literature, composition, and research. I have a passion for teaching and have worked as a college professor in literature, diversity, and leadership courses. While gaining my doctorate in leadership, with an emphasis on education, I tutored high school students in writing, worked as an editor for college students, and led a student resource center. I have a deep, profound understanding and competency in English, both written and oral. My research and writing ability is exemplary and varied, having published poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and research. I am currently working on a book for adult educators.
Teaching Style
I teach best in conversation and partnership with my students. I possess a broad ability to identify needs and interests, listening to both what is asked for and what is expected from students. Working with people of diverse backgrounds has honed my ability to ask open questions so that together we can discover what is needed and how it can be acquired. I work with students in scanning resources to determine how learning can be accomplished, and monitor how we’re doing relative to our agreed upon goals and responsibilities. I love when my students have challenged me to stretch my ideas and skills beyond what is familiar and I have been able to meet them in a space where we can learn together.
