Experience Summary
I was an teacher assistant for a chemistry lab for an organic lab for one semester at the University of South Carolina. I made sure students understood concepts and graded reports.
I tutored general chemistry for 2 years at the Student Success Center at the University of South Carolina. I learned how to effectively foster independent learning within my peers. I'm also a certified tutor involving 10 hours of training and over 25 hours logged time with students.
I have a B.S in Chemistry from the University of South Carolina and did research for three years there. I've got experience with the material that I tutor from teaching and from hands on research. I have a strong background in math as well as chemistry.
Teaching Style
I make an attempt to not give away answers but guide students with their own ability to come to conclusions. I try and foster independent learning and study skills. I have a confident knowledge of the subject and can answer questions when necessary. I do not do students homework. I use examples and guide students. I'm very patient and have experience working with large diverse groups of people from different backgrounds and learning styles Everyone is capable of learning but in different ways. I strive to provide students with quality education.
