Experience Summary
I graduated Bentley University with a 3.75 grade point average in 2007. While at Bentley, I participated in our well respected Service Learning program where I tutored elementary school aged children in math and a variety of other subjects after school hours. As a Senior at Ernst & Young, a Big 4 Accounting Firm, I delegate and coach auditing and accounting tasks to staff on a daily basis. This has given me real life experience in reinforcing the concepts I learned in college while I complete my CPA exams. Additionally, I am a recent participant in the Junior Achievement program where I led five lessons to 28 second graders, teaching them simple business and community related concepts.
Teaching Style
I have worked with younger children teaching simple arithmetic and with college students/recent grads teaching them auditing and accounting concepts. With younger children, I have used games, flash cards, and blocks to have them practice their math problems. I find this keeps a child energetic and enthusiastic. I am also very familiar with the "touch-point" system, an effective strategy in learning how to add numbers. Being young myself, I find that younger students can identify with me more and therefore get the most out of their extra tutoring time. Older students seeking accounting help may benefit from my real life experience in an accounting role and my knowledge obtained from my own studying for the CPA exam.
