Experience Summary
As a tutor, I do for students what I’ve done for 20 years at a daily newspaper. I check stories for grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors; but I do much more. I also edit stories for brevity, clarity, logical consistency and coherence. I’m able to pinpoint writing problems and offer solutions.
I’m also an adjunct communications instructor. In six years of teaching I’ve found I relate well to students, offering them a professional understanding of how to communicate in the classroom and the workplace.
Teaching Style
My approach to teaching is to engage a student, to get you to examine your writing as an outsider would coming to it for the first time. Basically, in working to improve your writing, I’ll ask three questions: What is your message? What in your writing helps or hinders you from communicating that message? How can we fix the problem spots?
I want to help you become your own editor.
