Experience Summary
I graduated from Wesleyan University (Middletown, CT) in 1984 with a degree in mathematics. Since then, I have held a number of teaching positions in private secondary schools and colleges. I have taught the following subjects: Pre-Algebra, Algebra I&II, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus. I have also tutored many students in those subjects (references available). I currently substitute teach in the mathematics department at Bangor High School on a fairly regular basis.
Teaching Style
I believe that everyone can find success in mathematics, and I am a very patient and thorough teacher. My students have often told me that I explain topics very clearly, in language that is easy for them to understand. I also have found that there is often more than one way to explain how problems can be solved, and I will take the time to do so. I have a great sense of humor, and I enjoy working with people. My students and I always have fun while learning the subject matter. In addition, all of my students have earned higher grades in school once they have been tutored by me.
