Experience Summary
I am currently in my final semester at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in the Secondary English Education program. I am a full-time student teacher at Milwaukee High School of the Arts in the Milwaukee Public School system; I teach English 9 and British Authors (10th grade English). I was a part-time student teacher last fall at Roosevelt Middle School of the Arts, and taught 7th grade English. I was a tutor and mentor for UWM's GEAR UP program and worked with high schoolers in all subjects, especially math and English. I play piano, read, write, and blog daily, and love to teach and learn. I am also a nanny for two families with young children.
Teaching Style
I am an enthusiastic and hard-working teacher. I am passionate about education and the success of children and young adults. I believe that all students can succeed and I work hard to ensure that they are given effective and appropriate opportunities to do so. I take time to get to know all of my students so I can be the best teacher possible. I am patient, easy-going, caring, and honest. My students and I work together to make a cooperative classroom community in which everyone can contribute. I take a lot of pride in my work, and being with young people brings me tremendous joy.
