Experience Summary
I started teaching piano in 1995 after I composed "Light and Glory," in the genre of America the Beautiful.....which I play for patriotic events. I've taught privately in Laconia, NH and Denver and was Staff Piano Teacher at Mesa Music, Grand Junction, CO. I entertain at the Taylor Home,Laconia with a small children's chorale I direct; play for other senior citizen events and nursing homes and played for two church praise teams. I was recently a guest composer on Concord Community TV's 2008 artistic Telefest. I come from a family of musicians..my mother inspired me as a pianist for church and dance bands and my brother has started writing scores for movies.
Teaching Style
My style is nurturing and thorough, patiently reviewing concepts before continuing on. I use the popular, modern Alfred Method...these books have colorful,delightful illustrations. This includes "Music for Little Mozarts." The upper levels offer lesson, recital, technique, theory and composition books as well as specialty titles (Christmas, etc). I specialize in homeschoolers. To make sure they don't miss the experience of a school program, our recitals may offer singing, dance, costume/drama, recitation, student compositions, etc. in addtion to piano pieces. I have orchestrated countywide interdenominational events so I enjoy doing this on a smaller scale with children. And they love it as do their parents.
