Experience Summary
My experience in education began at home with my mother who was a master teacher for 37 years in, mostly, Pinellas County as an English teacher. She exemplified what it means to be a civil servant and a mentor to numerous children year after year. From my home childhood into my adult life I have carried these sentiments closely and was able to extend this practice while working at one of Florida's best non-profits as an education director. My duties included the organization of literacy outreach initiatives assisting teachers in the Pinellas County School System in organizing and teaching poetry workshops for elementary and middle school.
Teaching Style
Children are the new mark for what is to become and with that belief I feel every single child should be taken into account not just those who seemingly excel. My patience allows for me to access the appropriate pace and learning style for each individual student. How much time spent instructing should be balanced by how much time is spent implementing what has been learned so as to better support their knowledge base. In other words, success lends itself to success and every child or student has the capability to excel in the proper structure and learning environment.
