Experience Summary
I graduated from Brigham Young University where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in English. Before studying English, I was an Electrical Engineering major for two years. During that time I took Physics, Chemistry, Trigonometry, Calculus and Differential Equations. I have extensive experience teaching reading and writing. I am very good at analyzing reading difficulties. As a substitute teacher, I have had the opportunity to teach many subjects such as History, Art, and Speech. In addition, I have home schooled my six children for the past eight years. I have taught them in all subjects especially Algebra and literature.
Teaching Style
I am a very patient teacher and good at picking up non-verbal cues from students when they don’t understand. I like to have fun with students because I believe that learning is most effective when students are engaged and interested. However, I am very focused and insist on students paying attention and staying on task until subject mastery is achieved. I understand children very well being a mother myself. Each of my children is different and learns differently. I understand that each student is unique and should be appreciated for his/her strengths. I teach students how to use their strengths to make up for their weaknesses. I inspire them to be the best that they can be.
