Experience Summary
I graduated summa cum laude from the State University of NY College at Cortland with a BA in Secondary English Education in 1989. Following that, I held a variety of positions in education including teaching in pre-schools and tutoring centers. Additionally, I have 2 years experience as a substitute teacher in a variety of subjects. I also home-schooled my own children for 5 years. During one of those years, I taught 2nd and 3rd graders part-time in an After School Enrichment Program. Most recently, I taught 7th Grade Language Arts in a public school for one year and 6th Grade English and Bible at a private Christian school for 4 years.
Teaching Style
As most people know, there are a variety of learning styles, and each student is a unique person with his or her own way of learning and being motivated to succeed. As a teacher, I always strive to know each student as an individual and discover how best to teach that student. I have had a wide variety of teaching experiences in many different subjects and settings and with students from Pre-K to 12th grade. I am flexible enough to adjust my teaching style to meet the unique needs and abilities of the students with whom I am working. Most of my students would say that I have a terrific ability to take a difficult concept and teach it in a way that makes sense to them.
