Experience Summary
Since high school I have been involved with tutoring. Although on a voluntary basis I tutored Algebra 2 and BIology in high school. At Stanford, I have been involved with various programs like Math Magic, East Palo Alto Children's Association, HAAS Center...in tutoring students from the area. I have instructed elementary, middle, and high school students thus far. In addition to academic subjects I have tutored guitar at at the beginning and intermediate level. I have studied Sociology and thus I have knowledge about qualitative and quantitative research. I have also received a B at the 1st level and an A at the 2nd level of Stanford's Program in Writing and Rhetoric.
Teaching Style
I have learned to adjust my tutoring skills specifically for the student based on their learning style; allowing the student to get much more out of the experience. The fact that I've worked with various levels has allowed me to experience a good number of behaviors, attention spans, interests, drives, and has allowed me to see the difference in subjects, how they must be illustrated as well as the way students tend to respond. From this, I have been able to curtail my style in correspondence to each tutee.
