Experience Summary
I am a champion for youth. While obtaining my education, my passion for children inspired me to tutor and mentor youth and young adults in programs like Educational Talent Search, Upward Bound, and Student Support Services. Furthermore, my interest in youth and education led me to begin teaching on the high school and collegiate levels. For several years, I have tutored and/or taught students in English, writing, public speaking and presentation skills, psychology, and ACT/SAT preparation.
Teaching Style
My goals as a teacher revolve around sharpening the critical thinking and analytical skills of students, challenging them to reach their full potential, while simultaneously encouraging them and providing a safe, caring environment that is conducive to learning. I believe that school should not be to teach students to regurgitate information, but to learn to think and problem solve in various situations, to learn how to network and use resources, to understand and utilize proper etiquette and appropriate situational behavior. Teaching is developing the whole person, meaning mind and character, to become a productive individual in society that is prepared to meet and deal with life’s challenges.
