Experience Summary
As an undergraduate, I was very involved in independent research with peers and professors alike. Specifically, I studied Ecology and Behavior in Coral Reef fishes as well as Mammalian Physiological responses to human development impact. Being a Co-Author on a manuscript as an undergraduate allowed me to be involved in the research process from beginning to completion, which has solidified my ability to communicate biological and ecological concepts in a clear and concise manner. Additionally, my teaching experience of college students in various ecological courses has further enhanced my ability to understand, and communicate, biological principles.
Teaching Style
I apply great importance on the education of children and their ability to grasp concepts to make them successful members of society. I believe a solid foundation of education leads to knowledge, and knowledge leads to wisdom. My style of teaching can be described as experiential. While holding a license in Falconry, I volunteered to conduct in-class education on Birds of Prey with live Red-Tailed Hawks. Furthermore, my independent research allowed me to experience basic and complex ecological relationships in real time. By relating these real-life experiences to bridge the often times complex contents of textbooks allows valuable learning to take place.
