Experience Summary
I have been working in the education field since my senior year of high school, where I discovered my passion in a ROP class. Since then I have earned my elementary teaching credential as well as my single subject biology and geoscientific credential and a GATE certification from UCSD extension. With this wide range of certification and my extensive experience teaching in different environments I know that I am the right person to tutor students who may be struggling in an academic area. I have worked in schools, homes, after school programs, and summer camps, which has given me a wide variety of teaching techniques that I can implement in my tutoring.
Teaching Style
Learning is cultivated when a child’s best effort makes them successful and mistakes are seen as stepping stones towards a goal. Teachers must set high expectations for their students as well as inspire students to have high expectations of themselves. For teachers, a positive attitude is a must. Constructivist teachers engage students in experiences that bring understanding to students, rather than share their own understandings. I firmly believe that the most effective way to educate students to their highest levels, they must participate in hands-on activities which promote active involvement and problem solving. Higher order thinking skills and the ability to think critically is the key to developing thriving members of society.
