Experience Summary
In Ripon Unified I taught for 2 years. In Hawthorne Union I taught for 1 year. In Hayward Unified I taught for 6 years. For 2 years I taught in Stockton Unified. At the SIATech Charter School at the Sacramento Job Corps I taught for 2 years. In Ceres Unified I taught for 1 year. Currently and for the last 3 years, I have been teaching at Millennium High School in the Tracy Learning Center.
During the last 16 years I have experience teaching students of all abilities and levels from basic math through pre-calculus. I have also gained experience teaching students of all cultures, races, ethnicities, and socio-economic backgrounds and linguistic backgrounds.
Teaching Style
After earning my Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Mathematics in 1990 from the California State University at Stanislaus, I entered the credential program. In the credential program at C.S.U. Stanislaus, I became well prepared for all the nuances besides teaching that goes with being a teacher. I was introduced to the concept of classroom management, assertive discipline, and establishing a warm and friendly learning environment in the classroom. I learned and developed a repertoire of hands-on manipulatives, games, and puzzles to make the learning of math more exciting, fun, and easy. Today, I still use most of these techniques although some have been altered to be more effective.
