Experience Summary
I have taught at Porterville, Tulare and Palmdale libraries. I hold a full time designated subjects Career Technical Education Teaching Credential. Teaching is my passion. I am patient, kind and punctual. My specialty is teaching English K-7th grade and I love teaching math K-3rd. I am a published author of (2) books. I also truly enjoy teaching English as a second language. I have taken Spanish courses many years ago. I also enjoy teaching guitar. Although I have worked for many tutoring companies, I have private students as well.
Teaching Style
Over the course of my career, I have taught a wide variety of courses for age groups K-12 which include: English, math, history, geography and English as a second language. I am quite comfortable with classes of different sizes, at different levels, and with various teaching styles. I incorporate the tactile, visual and auditory teaching methods. I have also taught adults to read in the adult literacy programs at many libraries.
Some believe classes should be teacher-centered, where the teacher is expert and authority in presenting information. Others take a learner-centered approach, viewing their role as more of a facilitor of student learning. I do both.
