Experience Summary
I have worked with students with different ability levels in many different settings. I received my BS from Canisius College in Childhood Education and Special Education grades 1-6. I am also currently completing my MS at Buffalo State College in Exceptional Education grades 1-6 and will graduate this May. I currently hold NY State Initial Certifications in Childhood Education and Students with Disabilities grades 1-6. Throughout my experience I have worked in both general education settings and special education settings with students who ranged from 5 years old to 14 years old. I have worked with students who have learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral disturbances, and students with severe mental retardation.
Teaching Style
As a part of my personal teaching style I believe that I need to have multiple ways of teaching material since many students have different ways of learning. I believe that educators need to be professional in order for students to conduct themselves in a professional manner. In order to teach successfully, there needs to be involvement of students’ families. Students not only learn at school but also at home. Families should be aware of any concerns, problems, or especially if their child is excelling. I believe it is important to teach students how to evaluate themselves and even learn how to become internally motivated as well as independent.
