Experience Summary
I have been a successful science educator for a long time. I am proud of what I have been able to accomplish over the years. I have been recognized locally, statewide and nationally for my teaching skills. I have received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Math Teaching (1994), Biology Teacher of the Year Award (1997) as well as the Outstanding Educator Award (2008) to mention a few. However, the award of which I am most proud is watching my many students succeed in Life. I have taught 9th – 12th grades as well as community college and university-level courses. I plan to continue teaching for a long time.
Teaching Style
I have been a successful science educator for a long time. I still enjoy it immensely. Early in my career I developed a teaching style that respects what the student brings to the learning experience. I attempt to facilitate information so that together with their previous knowledge the student can synthesize new concepts with deeper understanding for the basic principles of science. Understanding advanced topics can, at times, be rather frustrating. My goal is to establish a learning environment where your child will thrive academically.
