Experience Summary
I have been an elementary teacher for more than 25 years; 10 of those years I taught gifted children. My teaching specialties include grant writing with children, community problem solving and story telling using dance. I also have my English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement. In addition to spending more than a decade as a gifted and talented instructor, my other professional experiences include working with multi-age, special-needs and at-risk populations. My background also includes a combined 10 years of experience as a third grade traditional classroom teacher, a pullout teacher for grades four through six and sheltered-instruction teacher for second-language learners.
Teaching Style
I was born to teach. I believe all children can meet their potential by discovering what their specific learning styles are. I see life through the eyes of a child. I have the ability to incorporate academic concepts through thematics units One of my strongest qualities as a teacher is being able to break down difficult concepts into small steps that students understand. I also understand the frustrations that many parents feel when trying to help their child. I am the mother of two special needs children. Having been a classroom teacher for thirty years I taught many children who faced many and varied challenges with their education. In addition to teaching children I have also taught workshops for teachers and parents.
