Experience Summary
As a beginning substitute teaching day-to-day I encountered a diverse cross section of students. I taught from special education to advanced students. The encounters went from cultural, age, to behavioral. the subject matter went from home economics, art, math, english, history, to science. Most students lack structure and focus, therefore, knowledge and a lesson plan helps as well as the ability to manage a classroom. A good lesson plan should show revelance to a student's every day life in what they are being taught.
Teaching Style
My teaching style assesses in the student's learning ability to set the pace. Before beginning the next a review of the previous lesson is in order to be sure the prior lesson has been grasped. Each encounter with the students is an assessment for me as well as for the student of me. Positive reinforcement is a good way to keep students on point. It is not a good idea to become "chummy" with your stucents (familiarity breeds contempt). Gain your student's respect and respect your student in return but, you must take charge.
