Experience Summary
Before retiring this past January, I had worked in the field of special education for over 33 years in Connecticut in both public and private schools. My experience ranges from self-contained special education classrooms to resource rooms. My primary training and area of expertise, however, is with Learning Disabled students with severe reading disabilities. I am trained in the Wilson Reading Program, Orton-Gillingham Program, and another phonetically based reading program. I am also trained in administering, scoring, and reporting on educational testing.
My background includes a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, a Master of Science in Special Education, and a 6th year Certificate in Educational Leadership.
Teaching Style
My strong commitment to my students, my belief that they can and will succeed, my depth of background knowledge and experience along with my broad-based skill set, strong rapport with students, and my love of teaching, promotes academic success. It has been such a joy over the years to watch struggling readers finally “crack the code” and learn to read. In my retirement years, I would love the opportunity to continue to make a real difference in a youngster’s life.
