Experience Summary
I have been an informal tutor for various aged children, family members, and peers for at least one year. I have assisted others with general biology, elementary science, life science, chemistry 1, pre-algebra, and algebra 1. I have taken several classes in education, which gave me the necessary skills in order to be a successful tutor. I have a bachelor's degree in Biology, with chemistry from general chemistry 1 through organic chemistry one, several psychology classes, and a have background in education.
Teaching Style
I am a laid-back person, with the desire to help others. I am a believer of Lev Vygotsky and his theory of scaffolding. This style of teaching and learning purposes to challenge children with giving them a task that it too hard to complete alone, but can be easily achieved with assistance. As the children learn, the tasks are graduallyincreases to a higher level to facilitate a higher degree of learning.
