Experience Summary
After 17 years in the classroom, I still firmly believe that teachers are born and not made, and that all people should develop a love for life-long learning in whatever their career fields or passions may be. My loves do include reading and writing, but with advanced degrees in adult and vocational education and curriculum studies, I also enjoy studying many other areas of learning. My teaching experience has included 8th through 12th grade students of varying abilities and subjects ranging from literature, grammar, writing, test taking skills, Georgia High School Test review, Social Skills, Etiquette, British Literature, and ESOL.
Teaching Style
Teaching is what I was born to do, and I enjoy working with students of varying ages and abilities. Approaching difficult tasks or challenging assignments with new ideas or fresh techniques can make reluctant learners receptive. I am patient, but not a push over and I do require students to think and do their own work. However, I am able to do this with humor and positive encouragement. Working with a child's learning style and differentiating instruction to meet the needs of the learner is key to success in all educational endeavors.
