Experience Summary
While obtaining my Bachelor of Arts degree in French, I worked as a substitute teacher at Lake Ridge Academy in Cleveland, Ohio, teaching French to children in 5th grade through 12th grade. I worked as a peer tutor at Oberlin College for students helping them to speak French more fluently. I taught a practicum class at the Seventh Day Adventist School in Oberlin and taught at the Hampshire Country School where I also served as a dorm parent. All of this experience has helped me gain more insight into teaching. Currently, I translate court documents from English into French and work at the Fargo Public School system as a substitute paraprofessional.
Teaching Style
Working with children can be challenging but I welcome the opportunity to adapt my teaching style to each child's learning. I am very patient and respect that children are impressionable. It is this reason that I like to teach. I firmly believe in learning through opportunities that help the child to understand more easily. Every child has the ability to learn if given the proper environment and positive motivation. These are the qualities of a good teacher and this is the difference I hope to make when teaching.
