Experience Summary
I will be graduating from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in May 2010. I also have a minor in teaching and will continue in the teaching field through a Masters Degree program at UNH this coming fall.
I have some experience tutoring students. In the spring of 2008 I was involved in a program called Seacoast Reads through the University of New Hampshire. In the program I tutored a second grade student in reading. Additionally I have been a teaching assistant in Environmental Chemistry at Dartmouth College and a teaching assistant in Plant Systematics at the University of New Hampshire.
Teaching Style
I am very enthusiastic about teaching and about science. I believe that all students can learn if they are supported and if they are shown how the information they are learning is relevant to their lives. With high expectations and a strong support system, all students, even those who are struggling, can achieve their full potential. As a teacher I believe it is important to support all students and help them learn in whatever ways necessary. It is the job of the teacher to spark the student's interest in a particular subject. It is important to me to educate students about science because it is so important in the world around them.
