Experience Summary
With over 18 years of experience in Education I am capable of teaching to a variety of students and learning styles. My particular areas of expertise are composition, grammar, English literature (Shakespeare specialization), Latin, and American history. I am a working editor and writer and believe that the ability to communicate clearly and effectively (a skill I teach to all of my students) provides the foundation for all future learning.
Teaching Style
It has been my experience that most students appreciate an opportunity to sit quietly and think carefully over a problem. Time for a short burst of creative and intense scrutiny is a rare luxury for most of my highly-stimulated students. My philosophy is that learning is a student's job and they should give that job the attention it deserves. I encourage my students to explore while learning but believe in providing a structure and models in which to do so. I am firm in my expectations of my students and insist that they work just as hard as I do myself.
