Experience Summary
Though my educational background tells of a ‘numbers’ background (economics, MBA), I consider myself a strong communicator and leader, too. I was fortunate to attend a leading high school, which gave me the foundations to excel at Colby College (undergraduate, magna cum laude) and later at Babson College (MBA, cum laude). I have mentored and tutored students in a variety of formats, including two teenagers whom I taught full-time during a 2-year global circumnavigation by sailing yacht, and others whom I have mentored on interviewing skills, time and priority management, and technical skills too. My lifestyle as an entrepreneur gives me great opportunities to give back and indulge my secret desire to teach.
Teaching Style
Friends and colleagues often tell me that I should have been a teacher instead of an entrepreneur based on my clarity of expression and passion for instructing. I instinctively augment my spoken word with drawings, gestures or other “reference systems” to help learners grasp the necessary background and repeat processes on their own. I prefer incremental check-ins to make sure students understand intermediate steps and apply theoretical concepts to real life situations whenever possible. Most of all, I have boundless enthusiasm for these topics which further engages my students in the process of learning.
