Experience Summary
I am currently in the Master's program in Mathematics at Fresno State and working as a math tutor/mentor at a Hoover High School. I also tutor college students in my free time and I used to work as a tutor/mentor for the EOPS program at Fresno City College. I received a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics a year ago and during my senior year, I was awarded a scholarship for being the top student in my discipline.
Teaching Style
I believe patience and establishing a friendly, respectful connection with students leads to the ideal student/teacher relationship. I enjoy showing students how mathematical concepts and problems can be approached as puzzles, and how one can build upon mastered concepts to tackle ever more challenging puzzles. I receive a great deal of positive feedback from my students and I think a large part of my success stems from understanding the frustration many students have with mathematics, and being able to lead them to a less adversarial relationship with the subject.
