Experience Summary
I am an experienced Latin teacher with a BA in Classics from the University of Tennessee and an MA in Classics from the University of Virginia. I have also traveled extensively throughout the Mediterranean to study and excavate the physical remains of classical antiquity. My teaching career began at the University of Virginia. As a graduate teaching assistant, I taught sections of first and second year Latin to undergraduates. After graduating, I taught Latin for three years at Bethel High School in Hampton, Virginia. At Bethel, I also sponsored the Latin Club and Junior Classical League chapter and created a very successful after school ancient Greek program for motivated Latin students.
Teaching Style
As a Latin teacher, I understand that Latin can often be a challenging and difficult language to learn. I have helped many students through these difficulties, and I appreciate the unique learning style of every student. I patiently work with each student according to his or her individual needs and help them to understand Latin rather than memorize it.
