Experience Summary
As of May 2010, I will hold a Bachelor’s Degree with a major in writing and a minor in literature from Christopher Newport University. I have worked in the on-campus writing center for a year, where I found my aspiration to tutor others in writing. As a student I understand the stress and frustration that can come from writing an essay, and I hope to alleviate that with my professionalism and knowledge. I am familiar with all types of essays, though I specialize in MLA format. I have helped both undergraduate and graduate level students in Christopher Newport University’s writing center, and am knowledgeable with multiple subjects – not just English.
Teaching Style
I believe in an interactive approach to tutoring – where both tutor and student can be involved in the paper and work together. I am here to guide your child, to help them learn formal or informal writing so that they will not need me anymore. I approach each student differently, changing my tutoring based on their needs. I believe that my position’s purpose is to not only help your child with writing, but also to relieve the stress that can come with it. I support a fun atmosphere while tutoring, but also a disciplined one. I hope to bring my patience and positive nature to the session and to your child. My goal is to allow your child to grow and learn, while guiding them.
