Experience Summary
My experience as a Substitute Teacher in various school districts has given me a diverse background with students from various socio-economic backgrounds. I have worked in both affluent, moderate and disadvantaged areas among a population of students of various cultures. I know the value of flexibility, understanding, listening and patience to carry me through with what is different to me. Also, I rely on my love of working with young people in both middle school and high school age groups to guide me as a viable role model for them.
Teaching Style
My teaching style remains positive and respectful to all students, even in moments of confrontation. I always try to encourage, reinforce efforts with support, remain patient and try to present an example for students to emulate. My style is authorative while being at the same time warm, accepting and approachable with a willingness to help everyone.
The subject of English, such as grammar and writing, can often be intimidating to young people who fear failure. It is important to offer a viable, safe and nurturing forum for them.
