Experience Summary
I am honing my teaching skills and leveraging my scientific expertise as an Intern for a special education department in a HS. I provide one-on-one instruction in math, science and technology. I will earn a teaching certificate and MAT with honors by years end. I also tutor Algebra 1a. and 1b., respectively, outside my Internship responsibilities.
Prior to teaching I was a successful research scientist. I have spearheaded multiple research projects with expertise in cell biology, electrophysiology, biochemistry and human biology. During this scientific career, I have generated multiple publications, presented research at scientific meetings and earned work place awards.
Teaching Style
Teaching is about active student learning. The learning needs to be student centered, involved and relevant. Students will also need to develop deductive and inductive reasoning skills, ethics, interpersonal and intrapersonal skills learned from family, culture and formal education influences. I plan to create partnerships with families.
My classes will be using problem solving and critical thinking skills. They will learn the important features of the scientific method through immersion.
My students will be motivated by positive high expectations, individualized for both intellectual and social growth. Students need to know you care about them personally and academically.
