Experience Summary
I gained my first permanent employment as a tutor five years ago, in the beginning of my sophomore year, in the Canisius College Tutoring Center and held this position for three years until graduating in 2008. In my senior year I gained employment as a tutor/mentor for several government-funded high school tutor/mentor programs including GEAR UP through Canisius and Upward Bound through D’Youville. Finally, I was able to capitalize on my experience tutoring by landing my current position as educational coordinator for a 21st Century Program at the Father Belle Community Center. As educational coordinator, I tutor, direct other tutors, and arrange for the provision of life skills courses.
Teaching Style
I am a versatile tutor, with experience in a wide range of subjects. I can tutor nearly any high school subject, including English, history, biology, chemistry, earth science, and algebra. Furthermore, I can tutor a variety of college courses including philosophy, psychology, communications, anthropology, sociology, and economics. Moreover, I have experience tutoring students in preparation for standardized tests such as the SAT, GED, and GRE. Finally, most of my experience at the Canisius Tutoring Center involved assisting students in the writing of research and term papers. I excel at writing and can teach students how to effectively plan, outline, structure, and write any sort of paper.
