Experience Summary
I am currently a student at Wright State University; I will have a Bachelor’s degree in biology at the end of summer 2010. I have taken several classes in Cell biology, Molecular biology, Animal biology and Plant biology. I have also had a year of anatomy and a year of physics. The research papers, lab reports, analytical reports and essays that I have written have given me a comprehensive vocabulary and considerable grammatical skills. In the past two years I have assisted in my church’s youth ministry as a Sunday school teacher. I have also more recently been tutoring at an inner city school in Dayton with kindergarteners and fourth graders in math and language.
Teaching Style
I love teaching and sharing my love of science with others. Children learn in many different ways; some through reading, some through diagrams, and some through repetition. I enjoy trying to figure out how each child learns and I am willing to try as many different techniques as possible. I try to relate to my student to see how they learn best. I have learned through personal experience that learning comes easiest to a student if it is fun and taught in an engaging manner; through a video, a funny acronym, or relation to a personal experience or something that interests the student. I am patient, easy going, and understanding.
