Experience Summary
I’ve studied at Kawai School of Music, Sony Piano Academy, and under Ken Ogiso of Yamaha Piano Co. I’ve been personally trained by Jane Bastien of the “Bastien Piano Basics” series. I have 16 years of experience teaching piano to students from 4 to 50 years old. I have also taught piano lessons to special ed. students as part of the fine motor training. I developed a very simple and intuitive piano method, which was partially inspired by the ancient notation system used for the Japanese KOTO harp.
Teaching Style
I believe in having fun while mastering the basic piano skills. I’m detail-oriented, patient and creative. I simplify directions and provide concrete examples. I modify my lessons to suit the various learning styles of my students. I developed an easy piano method for “musically challenged” students who want to learn to play the piano, but face circumstances preventing them from learning the traditional way—a learning-disability, a short attention span, fine-motor skill difficulties, a lack of energy to practice the traditional way, or simply finding oneself in a busy season in life with no time for full-blown piano lessons.
