Experience Summary
As a teacher in Dayton Public Schools for six years and as chair of the Social Studies department at the Omega School of Excellence for five years, I created, led and assisted others on numerous projects that emphasized diversity and multi-disciplinary approaches. I have also developed and led educational classes in various non-traditional settings, such as Urban League of Southwestern Connecticut and Rikers’ Island Academy, while pursuing my degree at Columbia. I currently am an adjunct professor in the College of Education at Central State University, where I teach Educational Psychology, Assessment and Curriculum as well as Education for Exceptional Individuals.
Teaching Style
I have a passion for working with students and helping them further develop the skills necessary to enhance their quality of life and love for learning. I am professional, personable, and patient. I believe any person can learn, given the proper environment and resources, and I like to bring creative approaches to the education process because so many students learn differently.
My approach and styles, I believe, have allowed me to teach and tutor in numerous areas including social studies and history, social sciences, the arts, and math and as well as afforded me the opportunity to be a positive mentor to many over the past 25 years!
