Experience Summary
I taught for one year as a Special Ed teacher in Dade County, and tutored for 5 years in both Palm Beach and Miami-Dade Counties. My main thrust was to help children achieve grade level performance in their problem areas. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English from Florida Atlantic University, took education courses at Miami-Dade Community College, took and passed general knowledge test for the State of Florida, subject area tests in Elementary k-5 and English 6-12. Have tutored during school year and even in summer for students trying to pass aptitude tests, qualification tests for employment, study for G.E.D. and S.A.T. tests, reading, writing, math skills.
Teaching Style
I try to build rapport with my students by asking probing questions which indicate to me where they are academically and where they need to be. I really enjoy teaching both children and adults and try to adapt my teaching style to their learning styles. All people learn differently and at different paces, I strive to maximize the student's experience by using several different learning methods. I am very patient and respect my students. I want each student that I have contact with to come away from the experience having learned and enjoyed the process. I want their experience to be positive and to leave them with the ability to research and learn on their own. I encourage curiosity because it enables ones mind to be open to learning.
