Experience Summary
As a person with an inquiring mind, I have spend many years learning how students learn. I taught math at the high school level for five years in Florida, as well as one year in North Carolina. In addition, I have taught students with severe disabilites, and students in all subjects at the elementary level. Always interesting in continuing to learn, I have attended numerous workshops on how students learn. In addition, I was a contributing author to the Algebra Project with the University of Central Florida from 2000-2003. At this point in my live, I teach at the college level--College Algebra and remedial math. I also currently facilitate instructor trainings for the univeristy for which I am employed.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is very hands on. I try to make skills applicable to student's lives, which helps them internalize the information. I am also very organized--I expect my students to maintain a help notebook to assist with the various steps to problems. I like to push my students to excel and really understand the math, not just "do" the math.
