Experience Summary
Presently I hold a certificate for Physics and chemistry and I'm planning on Certifying in Math (Algebra and geometry) here in Oklahoma. I have tutored for a learning center locally (Oxford) and have been tutoring independently since September with a number of success stories in both algebra and geometry as well as ACT preparation.
I have taught 3 semesters as a Teaching assistant during graduate school, and am completing my second year as a physics/chemistry teacher. I have tutored independently since September 2009.
Teaching Style
I enjoy teaching, conversely I also have enjoyed my experiences tutoring to date. Working one on one is what some children (and adults) require if only from time to time to "get through" something they are struggling with academically.
Over time I have become more and more patient, and have worked with people from a wide range of backgrounds and believe that if a person wants to succeed then they are more than halfway to their destination. I have also seen that if you can influence this and help kids "want" that success, it can happen as well.
