Experience Summary
As a student at Oklahoma State University, I worked with my fellow students during my sophomore, junior, and senior years as a peer tutor. I also worked for the Athletic department as a student-athlete tutor. My degrees are in Accounting and Management, which provided significant coursework in accounting, management, and other areas of business. I have tutored Accounting, Economics, General Business, College Algebra, and other general education areas. I also worked for two years as a professional accountant and am a Certified Public Accountant.
Teaching Style
I enjoy teaching business areas and math -- the subjects were fascinating to learn and are still a joy to explore with students. My favorite moments are "light bulb moments;" it can be frustrating to work on the same thing for a long time, but when a student looks up and finally "gets it," it doesn't matter how long it took.
I enjoy working with students to develop a true foundation of understanding early in the material so we can build on it as we work into the more complex areas. However, I also enjoy working with students who may have missed out on building the foundation and need to take a step back--helping them rebuild their confidence is very rewarding.
