Experience Summary
I have over 20 years experience in classroom and substitute teaching, both in Canada and in Phoenix. Teaching is my passion. I particularly enjoy working with students in grades K through 4th. However, I have experience teaching 5th and 6th grades, as well. I enjoy working with students of all ethnic backgrounds and those with particular challenges.
Over the years, I have given extra help to many students after school. It is a joy to work one-on one.
Teaching Style
I set clear, attainable goals with my student. I am patient and sensitive to frustration, should it arise. I believe it is very important for the student to like the teacher, and to feel safe to ask questions, slowly building success upon success. I recognize that students have differing learning styles, therefore I attempt to uncover what works best; ex., some are visual learners versus auditory learners.
