Experience Summary
As an undergraduate student at Southwestern University, I received a comprehensive education that can only be obtained at a small liberal arts university. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and am currently working on my Master of Arts in Counseling. Prior to majoring in psychology, I was an elementary education major. I volunteered with children of all ages in numerous libraries and classrooms throughout high school and college in an effort to gain experience as a future teacher. I was also a mentor and tutor for elementary and middle school students for five years in high school and college. I have tutored students in math, psychology, English, and sciences, and I have given both individual and group viola lessons.
Teaching Style
My educational background and volunteer experiences have led me to develop an extremely high respect for and understanding of educational achievement. Every student learns in their own way. I strive to find each child’s learning strengths and to focus on how I can use those assets to further their learning experience. I am patient and understanding yet diligent and reliable. My background in psychology and my personality allow me to connect with students on a more emotional and personal level as we learn together. Finally, although I have more experience with elementary and middle school students, but I would love to work with elementary- through high school-age children.
