Experience Summary
I am a Seattle based visual artist and educator with over 25 experience. I hold a Bachelors degree from the prestigious Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle (2000) and an Masters from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas (2008). As a student, I was dedicated and hard working, receiving high grad point averages in both of my degrees (3.98 with my MFA). This dedication continues in my professional field. I currently work full time through a combination of studio work and teaching for Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle, privately and for Dale Chihuly's National Foundation, Seniors Making Art. Community is also an important part of my career and life so I reside on several art advisory boards in the Seattle area.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is simple; anyone can learn the creative process as long as the instruction is thought provoking and student focused. To construct such an environment, I meet with each student on a individual level to find out their educational goals and existing experience in order to provide a direct plan of teaching and continue with continual feedback during class sessions. My classroom is always a positive environment that focuses on diversity and creativity, while prohibiting discrimination on any level. My overall goal in teaching is to give students the working knowledge and confidence to continue their creative process without help. Everyone has a creative voice that can be utilized!
